John and Mary are a couple who love adventure and nature. They decided to elope in New Zealand, one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in the world. They wanted to have a simple and intimate ceremony that reflected their personality and style.
They contacted me, an elopement photographer based in Queenstown, to help them plan and document their dream elopement. I was thrilled to work with them and create a memorable experience for them.
We started by choosing the best location for their elopement. New Zealand has so many amazing places to choose from, but John and Mary had their eyes on Milford Sound, a stunning fiord in the south-west of the South Island. It’s a place that offers spectacular views of mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife.
We booked a helicopter flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound, which was an adventure in itself. We flew over the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps, the turquoise waters of Lake Wakatipu, and the lush forests of Fiordland National Park. We landed on a secluded spot near the water, where John and Mary exchanged their vows and rings.
The ceremony was simple but beautiful. They had written their own vows, which were heartfelt and sincere. They had also brought a bottle of champagne and two glasses, which they popped open after the kiss. They toasted to their love and happiness, while enjoying the scenery around them.
I captured every moment of their elopement with my camera, using natural light and creative angles. I wanted to show their emotions, their connection, and their surroundings. I also took some portraits of them in different locations, such as on a rocky beach, on a wooden jetty, and on a grassy hill.
After the ceremony and the photoshoot, we flew back to Queenstown, where John and Mary had booked a cozy cabin for their honeymoon. They thanked me for my service and gave me a hug. They said they had the best day of their lives and that they couldn’t wait to see the photos.
I was so happy for them and proud of my work. I delivered the photos to them within a week, and they loved them. They said they looked like they came out of a magazine or a movie. They also said they would recommend me to anyone who wants to elope in New Zealand.
John and Mary’s elopement was one of the most epic and memorable ones I’ve ever done. They are such a lovely and adventurous couple, and I’m glad I got to be part of their story. I wish them all the best for their future together!
